Wellbeing Champions
The Wellbeing Champions are a dedicated team of pupils who applied for the role because they want to help create a safe and supportive environment for everyone at Old Hill. They play an important role in educating their peers, running campaigns against bullying, and promoting positive mental health through a variety of events and assemblies throughout the year.
The Wellbeing Champions have received training to ensure they understand their role clearly. While they do not directly intervene in incidents, they are knowledgeable about how to support others and encourage a positive school culture.
Some of the ways they help:
-
Telling an adult if they witness concerning behaviour
-
Asking friends who display bullying behaviour to stop
-
Checking in with someone who has experienced unkindness
-
Encouraging those affected to speak to a trusted adult
-
Being a friend to someone experiencing conflict
-
Approaching someone sitting on their own to chat or help find someone for them to play with
Through their work, including leading assemblies, the Wellbeing Champions play a vital part in promoting mental health and wellbeing across the school community.
